Lazy + selfish x ignorance= 2 lives lost!

Check out the my new blog posting "Lazy + Selfish x Ignorance = 2 two live lost"

Lazy + selfish x ignorance= 2 lives lost!

Rest in peace, Eutisha Revee Rennnix and her unborn child.

I am writing these words with sorrow in my heart. this particular event touched closed to home because my girlfriend was Eutisha's first cousin. I am appalled by the way this situation unfolded. A young mother, mother to be, and wife to be, died senselessly on December 9th 2009. This would have easily been avoided had two city employees intervened and helped this young pregnant mother. Apparently these individuals coveted break time and held those moments in a higher esteem then the life of Eutisha and her unborn child.

For those reading this blog and not familiar with what I am talking about, this young woman was at work where she fell ill, short of breath, and incurred a seizure. At this time co - workers were serving two FDNY EMT'S ( emergency medical technicians ). They sought help from the EMT'S and were turned down and advised to call 911, before the collected their breakfast and left the store.

The mayor and the media have been all over this situation, and this is a black eye for FDNY, and the City of New York. The fact is this is not a race issue, it is a moral issue. All emergency response workers in this city have a clause in their contracts stating " Duty To Act " this means that even when not on duty when an emergency arises it is their duty to act. Now, this problem runs deeper than these two morons. It is a stain in the moral fabric of this country. To many folks are only interested in self gratification, not caring for those around them...I have been asking myself for the past week, is coffee and eggs and a few minutes of bullshit talk worth this young woman's life, or any body's life for that matter?

I never met Eutisha but she was my Girlfriend's cousin so I felt the impact of her death. To the whole Rennix family I offer my sincerest condolences. No amount of blogs and articles will bring her or her baby back, but their lives have touched many and have shed light on the negligence of city employees and shows that we cannot turn a blind eye to the hiring practices of not only this agency but all city agencies across the board. I myself being a municipal employee, and an advocate of labor laws providing optimum conditions in the workplace, condemn those who hide behind these labor laws to purposely deny services to citizens in need of help. It is shameful that the union representing these two people have been circling the wagons around them and trying to spin this in another direction but the fact remains, help was denied, and a young woman died. Bottom line!

Da Savior

Ok, It's ya boy FDA back in da building just taking a few seconds to address some more things going down in this game. Now, for all those who read the previous blog and are continuing down the murky path of this one, allow me to tell you: THE VIEWS AND OPINIONS EXPRESSED ARE MINE, AND MINE ALONE! WHETHER YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE IS SOLELY UP TO YOU, AND IS YOUR SOLEMN RIGHT AS A HUMAN BEING INHABITING THIS PLANET!

For some time now we as hip hop fans have been moving in the dark, searching for a beacon of light, a ray of hope, a sign or symbol that there would be a savior to emerge and put the bounce back into the mix of this boring cookie cutter radio garbage. I love to listen to Jay-Z, I enjoy 50 Cent and G-Unit, I like Jadakiss, Maino, Fabolos, Swizz, etc. the list goes on. I also like to bump underground music as well, now of course this may seem bias, but it is what it is...I listen to Immortal Technique, Poison Pen, Chino XL, Hasan Salaam, Akir, Diabolic, CV'S ( Ike & Swave ) J Arch, CF, and of course I bump my shit ( Da Circle ). I listen to Boot Camp Clik, Jedi Mind Tricks, Atmosphere, Donny Goines, etc. thank god for the ipod, cause even with a 6 cd changer its a bitch to keep switching cd's while doing 30 over the speed limit ducking highway 1.

I love to listen to music that has the prime elements covered...dope beat, dope hook, dope lyrics ( barz ), and real life subject matter! I find that it is harder to connect with the new generation of music because of how distant we have become as a whole. as I am relating to you folks this is the way of the world online everything. Its a blessing and a curse. With the world literally at your finger tips instead of actually dealing with real life and real time experience more and more people are living their lives in cyberspace and not in the real world. This makes it hard to believe these guys who rhyme about things in the streets, when they have such a large online presence. back in the days of street buzz if you wanted to be hot in the streets you had to be seen and heard in the streets.

I don't think that the next champion of real hip hop has to have his or her resume read, been knocked, been locked, been shot, sold drugs, robbed, and have three bodies.
I expect them to be true to their craft and have the ability to engage the masses on a higher level than just explaining how frivolous they are now that they have made a few coins rapping. In times of global recession, bail outs, bankruptcy, foreclosure, unemployment, poor health care, and education, it is hard to relate as a regular person living a serf like existence to lavish lifestyles of hip hop elites.

Da Generation Gap

Yo what up hip hop headz out there? I go by da name of Fatz D'Assassin 1/2 of the up and coming underground duo " Da Circle". We hail from NYC, and are eternal fans, and students of this culture. In present day hip hop we see slumping sales of physical product and a rapid decline in creativity and originality. Rappers of today are simply drones like worker ants and bees who roam the industry aimlessly and have no other purpose other than to bring in vital resources to their queen (label) to nourish and bring forth the next generation of mindless drones ( rappers ). Growing up in New York City amidst the " golden era " of hip hop, I witnessed M.C.'s take the game into the outer reaches of any ones wildest imaginations, with many different styles of rhyme, dress, dance, beats, message, etc. Many artists hailed from my home town but the artists who hailed from other cities were just as creative and driven with their own movements and sounds that the record store was like a buffet table of dishes that you could pick and choose your favorite meal.

Not only did these acts compete vigorously on wax, but in video, and stage performance as well. This is no longer a practice in the hip hop culture. Just like anything else...money and corporate influence came in and robbed hip hop of its soul, and replaced classic M.C.'s with rappers, and put a dollar amount on every aspect of the game. Now that the new breed are relevant they do not pay homage to the greats of the past, in fact hip hop/rap music is the only genre of music that disrespects its pioneers as being to old and outdated to step up and rip it down. I breaks my heart to hear the younger kids give credit to artists for remakes that were inspired by artists of yester year, and confuse this with being original...I thought one of the founding principles of hip hop was NO BITING! I know that the coin has two sides, older artists feel disrespected watching young kids reaping the harvest for the seeds they sowed...while younger artists feel the older heads are reluctant to pass the torch and acknowledge the new breed as a peer group. However you see it it means Nada if the culture is dead and gone, because the question I often ponder is this.....if there wasn't another dime to be made as a hip hop artist, dj, dancer, video vixen, manager, etc...how many people would still be apart of it. So personally I view the economic climate as a major cleanse, a purging of the bullshit. what do you think?
